Find Your Fit — Steadfast

Find your fit — how bead size affects any bracelet

This guide works for any beaded stretch bracelet — ours or anyone else's. If you know the bead size, you can figure out your true fit in one step.

How to measure

Wrap a soft measuring tape around your wrist. But measure in two spots, because which one matters depends on the bracelet:

  • The narrow point — where your wrist is thinnest, usually just past the wrist bone.
  • The wide point — right where your hand meets your wrist, over the wrist bone itself. This is the widest spot the bracelet has to pass over to go on.

For beads 4mm and up, use the wide point — those beads don't have much give, so the bracelet needs enough room to clear your hand comfortably. For 2mm and 3mm beads, the narrow point works fine.

Why bead size changes the fit — the real reason

This isn't about stretch. It's pure geometry, and it applies to any beaded stretch bracelet regardless of who makes it.

A bracelet's stated length is measured around the outside edge of the finished loop — the way you'd naturally wrap a tape measure around it. But the part that actually matters is the inside opening, the hole your wrist goes through. Every bead sits between those two edges, and a bigger bead pushes the inside opening smaller than a small bead does, even when the outside measurement is identical.

Think of a donut. Two donuts can have the exact same outer edge, but if one is made of fat rings and the other of skinny rings, the hole in the middle is a completely different size. That's exactly what's happening here.

Same outer size, different inner opening, based on bead diameter Two bracelet loops with the same outer edge measurement. The loop made of large 8mm beads has a much smaller inner opening than the loop made of small 2mm beads.2mm beadslarge openingSame outer edge, roomy inside8mm beadssmall openingSame outer edge, tight inside

The simple rule

For every 1mm of bead width, add about ⅛ inch to your wrist measurement. That's the size to order.

Don't know your bead size? Check the listing — most sellers include it. If not, lay one bead flat and measure it edge to edge with a ruler.

Quick reference, any brand:

Bead width Add to your wrist measurement
2mm ¼"
3mm ⅜"
4mm ½"
5mm ⅝"
6mm ¾"
7mm ⅞"
8mm 1"
9mm 1⅛"
10mm 1¼"

Round to the nearest size your seller offers. If you land between two sizes, size up — it's easier to wear a hair loose than too tight.
